FAQs

You have questions, we try to provide answers…

What is Renew My Church (RMC) and how does it affect St. Julian Eymard Catholic Parish (St. Julian)?

Renew My Church is a years-long initiative of Cardinal Cupich and the Archdiocese of Chicago to create vital and sustainable parishes across the diocese by inspiring witness, creating disciples and building community.

St. Julian is in a Grouping with Queen of the Rosary Catholic Parish (QR) and our Grouping was activated in Wave 3, in the Spring of 2019. Our 5-person Grouping Findings & Discernment Team (GFDT) has been participating in Summer Discovery with our partners at QR in preparation for two (2) Town Hall Meetings in September and October of 2019.

The GFDT will provide a feedback summary report to the RMC team in November and Cardinal Cupich will make a determination about our parish by January of 2020. While no scenarios specific to our Grouping have been shared as yet, there are three (3) likely possibilities for the path forward: no change and both St. Julian and QR continue operating as separate parishes while finding ways to work together; St. Julian and QR are joined and a single new parish is formed to serve the Catholic community in Elk Grove Village and a single worship site is selected; the parishes are joined and a new parish is formed, but both worship sites remain.

Please check the bulletin for regular updates on the Renew My Church initiative or feel free to ask specific questions you may have of Fr. Brian or the GFDT: Lynn Gustafson, Don Kauffold, Pablo Moreno, Marek Kaczor or Mary Ellen Ottenstein.
